    1. Select the site at which you wish to volunteer. Learn about the requirements and click the link to apply at the bottom of the page.
    2. Complete the online application and upload immunization records if born after 1957. If your interest and availability meet our need, you will be contacted by someone on our Volunteer Services team.
    3. Participate in an interview with Volunteer Services.
    4. If accepted into the program, complete background check authorization form, TB testing, all required paperwork, and attend orientation.
All onbarding requirements are free of charge to the volunteer.
    5. Order uniform and obtain photo ID badge.

  • What if I don't have a copy of my immunization records?

All volunteer applicants must provide proof of immunization or immunity to Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chicken Pox), and a recent Tdap (within the last 10 years). Contact your physician's office for this information. If you do not have access to the information, your physician can order a blood titer to show immunity for MMR and Chicken Pox. We can accept those results in lieu of immunization records, but there must be a recent Tdap on file.
  • What is the minimum age to volunteer?

Adults age 18 and older are welcome. For high school students (VolunTeens), each site may have a different age range. Please visit the home page for the site at which you wish to volunteer to determine the minimum age requirement.
  • How many hours do I need to commit to become a volunteer?

Adult volunteers age 18 or older are asked to commit to six months or 100 hours, whichever comes first. High school volunteers (VolunTeens) are eligible to participate in our summer program. Each site may have a different time commitment. Please visit the home page for the site at which you wish to volunteer to determine the time commitment.

  • Do you offer one-time or group volunteer opportunities?

Due to our onboarding requirements and individualized training for volunteers, we do not offer one-time or group volunteer opportunities.

  • Can I volunteer at more than one location?

Yes. Some volunteers choose to volunteer at multiple locations. Please select a primary site to apply and onboard. Then request to add shifts at a secondary location and work with the Volunteer Services team at both sites to coordinate shifts.
  • Can I fulfill court ordered service hours while volunteering at Wellstar?

No, we are unable to sign off on court ordered service hours.
  • Can Volunteer Services help place me in an internship or shadowing role?

No, if you are interested in a shadowing opportunity please email students@wellstar.org. Someone from the Office of Academic Affairs will respond and assist you.
Internships are posted on the Wellstar career page which can be found here:
